Our history
Wilson & Gilkes was established in 1945 by Mr Alex Wilson and Mr Eric Gilkes. The company manufactured a broad range of photographic equipment which gave the company its precision and quality culture.
Wilson and Gilkes is recognised as one of Australia’s leading sheet metal fabricators. who’s engineers and industrial designers produces Bosco Office & Storage to save space and improve efficiency in your workplace.
Bosco Office & Storage is a truly competitive and flexible manufacturer specialising in sheet metal storage. In recent years Wilson & Gilkes has been a key supplier to large infrastructure and defence projects. Our team took a basic concept for traffic tunnel fire service metal structures, and helped create a modular system that slashed site installation time.
Wilson and Gilkes was acquired by OPIE Manufacturing Group in 2023. Opie Group has been making quality fabricated products since 1962; this new acquisition will enable Bosco Office & Storage to leverage the latest technology and skills in it new Head office and factory at OPIE Group, 109 Russell Street, Emu Heights NSW 2750.

The OPIE Manufacturing Group recently acquired Wilson & Gilkes, a company that has been operating since the post-WWII economic reconstruction period. Over the past 75 years, Wilson & Gilkes has witnessed significant changes in manufacturing, economy, and society. During its early years, the idea of using automated laser technology for complex metal cutting, such as in Bosco Office & Storage, would have been unimaginable. However, Wilson & Gilkes has always believed in the capabilities of its people and their commitment to achieving flexible manufacturing solutions that deliver optimum results for their Bosco Storage Solutions customers.
Today Opie Group employs a team of qualified staff, including industrial designers, mechanical engineers, electricians, sheet metal tradespeople, fitters and machinists, toolmakers, powder coaters, and welders. These skilled individuals contribute to the company’s ability to provide high-quality products and innovative solutions.
With the acquisition by Opie Group, Wilson & Gilkes and Bosco Office & Storage will have access to the latest manufacturing advancements and resources available at Opie’s state-of-the-art facility in Emu Plains. This relocation will further enhance Bosco Office & Storage ability to deliver high-quality products and innovative solutions to their customers. By leveraging Opie Group’s extensive manufacturing expertise and advanced facilities, Bosco Office & Storage aims to achieve even greater levels of efficiency, precision, and product excellence.
